Project summary: Telling stories is an age-old art of
keeping alive events in words and sounds. Storytelling is found in
every country and is frequently used to teach and entertain young
people. "Secret Library" created opportunity for youth to meet, to
discover each other culture's similarities and differences, to
experience different storytelling traditions from different areas of
Europe and to learn more about customs of the countries.
The main aim of the project was to perform different stories from each country and to re-create them into one common European legend with elements about inclusion of young people with geographical obstacles, learning difficulties, cultural differences and social problems. Using non-formal learning with interactive approach participants created a European framework of fairytales, anecdotes, fables and urban legends. In the interest of wider dissemination of the results on the last day an organized Storytelling Festival opened to local people.
The project was initiated and hosted by Youth Senate Tallinn.
