AI-UP: Harnessing Artificial Intelligence for Youth Work

About the project

Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming the way organisations communicate, create content and engage with their audiences. For youth organisations, AI offers exciting opportunities to increase visibility, streamline everyday work and develop innovative approaches to working with young people.

AI-UP: Harnessing Artificial Intelligence for Youth Work is an Erasmus+ training project designed to strengthen the digital competences of youth workers by introducing practical applications of artificial intelligence in youth work.

The project brings together participants from six countries to explore how AI can support communication, social media management, project dissemination, content creation and organisational development while promoting the responsible, ethical and inclusive use of emerging technologies.

Through non-formal education methods, practical workshops and international cooperation, participants will gain hands-on experience with AI tools and develop solutions that can be directly applied in their organisations.

Objectives

The project aims to:

  • strengthen youth workers’ digital competences in the field of artificial intelligence;
  • introduce practical AI tools for communication, content creation and project management;
  • improve the visibility and dissemination of youth organisations’ activities;
  • promote the ethical, responsible and inclusive use of AI;
  • encourage innovation and digital transformation in youth work;
  • establish long-term international cooperation between organisations working in the youth field.

Main activity

The core activity of the project is an international training course hosted in Fonyód, Hungary, bringing together 28 youth workers, youth leaders and volunteers from: Hungary, Finland, Türkiye, Armenia, Georgia and Ukraine.

During the training, participants will:

  • discover the fundamentals of artificial intelligence;
  • learn to use AI tools for communication and social media;
  • create AI-assisted visual and video content;
  • explore AI applications in project management and organisational workflows;
  • discuss ethical issues related to AI;
  • design and test AI-supported youth work activities;
  • exchange good practices and develop future international cooperation.

The programme is based on non-formal education, combining interactive workshops, simulations, practical exercises, peer learning and collaborative project work.

Follow-up activities

Following the international training, each partner organisation will organise a local follow-up activity to transfer the knowledge gained during the project to their local communities.

These activities may include: workshops for youth workers and volunteers; practical demonstrations of AI tools; AI-assisted communication campaigns; digital content creation; development of innovative AI-supported solutions for youth organisations.

By implementing these local activities, participants will become multipliers of knowledge and contribute to the long-term digital development of youth work in their respective countries.

Expected results

The project is expected to:

  • improve participants’ practical AI competences;
  • increase the digital capacity of participating organisations;
  • strengthen the dissemination and visibility of youth work activities;
  • promote ethical and inclusive approaches to AI;
  • establish an international network of youth workers interested in digital innovation;
  • produce practical resources supporting the integration of AI into youth work;
  • contribute to the broader digital transformation of the European youth sector.
