The Institute for Cultural Relations Policy and its international partners offer fully customisable training courses focusing on media and journalism. The courses provide relevant knowledge and develops skills related to responsible journalism, media literacy, ethics and journalism genres. These programs are designed for – but not limited to – young journalists and anyone who would like to gain experience and insights about writing of articles and opinions.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

  • Duration: 5 days training including one day study and cultural visit
  • Participants: the programme is designed for young journalists and anyone who would like to gain experience and insights about writing of articles and opinions
  • Schedule: 4 training sessions per day, one free day, optional study visit

TRAINING SESSIONS

The program includes two training sessions in the morning and two training sessions in the afternoon, combining theoretical and practical aspects. The sessions include the following topics:

  • Principles of journalism, ethics
  • Work with resources
  • Journalism genres
  • Minority perspectives in the media
  • Opinion pieces and blog
  • Media awareness, fake news, fact-check
  • Case studies
  • Practical knowledge: writing of articles, presentation and evaluation
  • Practical knowledge: writing of blogs, presentation and evaluation

The training course primarily aims for a responsible journalism. Specifically, it aims to train young professionals who are not only aware of societal issues affecting their region but also interested in exchange of information through journalism or by writing. The training course also aims at preserving and promoting cultural cohesion and cooperation between various societal groups.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES

The training program aims to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of journalistic principles and ethics, proficiency in resource utilization, familiarity with various journalism genres, and awareness of minority perspectives in media. Participants will develop skills in producing opinion pieces and blogs, while also honing media awareness and fact-checking abilities. Through analysis of case studies, they will deepen their understanding of ethical dilemmas and effective reporting strategies. Hands-on experience in article and blog writing will further enhance their practical skills. Ultimately, the program seeks to foster responsible journalism by empowering young professionals to contribute to informed public discourse, promote inclusivity in media representation, and uphold journalistic integrity.
