United Societies of Balkans (USB) will organise an ERASMUS+ training course for motivated youth workers and youth leaders who will explore the challenges of their communities related to human rights, active citizenship and democracy. Participants will furthermore develop professional skills related to the use of social media in online activism. Through this process participants will discover the following topics: human rights, digital youth, democratic societies, online activism, social media, youth workers as influencers.

The project will take place in Thessaloniki, Greece in summer 2020 and will include 21 youth workers and youth leaders from 7 European countries with facilitators from Greece.

The project aims to develop social media related professional skill s of participants and understanding about their role in building democratic societies and a culture of human rights. This will happen through non-formal education and creative activities such as photography, blogging and social campaign case studies.

Throughout the training course, participants will explore concepts such as digital youth, online activism and will develop their media and communication skills which they can use in their actual work with young people as a tool for promoting human rights.

Participants will be able to use social media as a way of influencing young people and to generate social media content, projects or initiatives in their local, regional or European communities that will influence and involve young people and lead them towards building a more socially active, inclusive society and generation which reflects on the current global, regional and local challenges related to human rights and democracy.
