Diplomacy&Beyond: Ferenc Laczo

On 27 January the next event of Diplomacy & Beyond talk series will host Ferenc Laczó. The discussion intends to reveal what can lessons can we learn from the Holocaust in the 21st century.

Ferenc Laczó is assistant professor in history at University College Maastricht. He studied and held fellowships in Berlin, Bielefeld, Budapest, Los Angeles, Utrecht, Vienna and Washington, DC. He received his PhD from the Central European University in Budapest. Formerly he was employed at the Imre Kertész Kolleg Jena and acted as guest lecturer at the University of Basel. Ferenc’s main research interests lie in political and intellectual history, modern and contemporary European and global history, Jewish history and the history of mass violence, and questions of history and memory. He acts as an editor of the Hungarian Historical Review and heads the History of Ideas section at the Review of Democracy. Ferenc’s writings have appeared in twelve languages. His books have been reviewed in more than thirty journals. Recently, he was the recipient of the Communicating Europe Award for Outstanding Interdisciplinary Research awarded by the Centre for European Research in Maastricht in 2020 and 2021.
