18 December 2021 ⁞ 6th annual SESCO conference
The 6th SESCO (Security and Sovereignty in the 21st Century) conference was held on the 18th of December. The ICRP’s annual scientific meeting was organised online for which more than 200 participants registered. The conference included 3 keynote and 10 guest presentations.
15 November 2021 ⁞ New publication series
The Cultural Relations and Beyond essay series was launched as a joint effort of the member organisations of the International Alliance for Cultural Relations (IACR). The mission of the series is to provide opportunity for researchers, professionals and cultural relations practitioners to present their works on various topics within and beyond cultural relations.
15 November 2021 ⁞ New affiliate organisation established in France
The ICRP’s sister organisation was founded in France. The Association des Relations Culturelles is a Paris-based civil society organisation focusing on international and cultural relations and aimed at providing educational opportunities and producing educational outcomes.
29 September – 5 October 2021 ⁞ Unlock Headspace project
The ICRP’s Unlock Headspace – Education for youth wellbeing, self-care and empowerment was implemented in Georgia. This project includes two training courses which intend to create innovation and improve the capacities of youth organizations and youth workers to foster youth participation.
17 – 25 September 2021 ⁞ Bridge of Cultures
The ICRP’s Bridge of Cultures – Training Course on Intercultural Learning was implemented in Misaktsieli, Georgia. The training course aimed to empower young workers to take an active role in transforming intercultural misunderstandings and conflicts on all levels, and to foster understanding, tolerance and acceptance between differences.
11 September 2021 ⁞ New strategic partner organisation created in Albania
The ICRP’s partner organisation in Albania was established. 360° Youth Policy was founded in order to improve the policies of youth and education in Albania and beyond by promoting and developing new approaches and educational services, the advancement and involvement of youth in decision-making processes, as well as in the promotion of human rights and social law.
13 August 2021 ⁞ Diplomacy & Beyond in new format
The new series of Diplomacy & Beyond is resumed in online format, thus making it possible for a larger audience to follow the discussions with diplomats, experts and cultural relations practitioners. The first semester of the new format talks included lectures and discussions with 5 invited speakers. The videos are available on the ICRP’s YouTube channel.
30 June 2021 ⁞ ICRP Info Day
The ICRP invited 20 youth workers and young professionals for an info-day that included presentations, an interactive educational game testing and a reception with wine tasting. The presentations included dissemination of the ICRP’s two minority-related projects: DREAM ROAD Interreg project about Roma integration in Central Europe and the Global Citizenship for Human Rights” Erasmus+ Capacity Building project about human rights education.
11 January 2021 ⁞ New cooperation in the field of sport diplomacy
The ICRP announced its new partnership with Internationale Club de Football SE (Inter CDF SE).
12 December 2020 ⁞ 5th annual SESCO conference
The 5th SESCO (Security and Sovereignty in the 21st Century) conference was held on the 12th of December. This year the ICRP’s annual scientific meeting was organised online which allowed for even more participants to follow the live presentations. More than 600 viewers watched the live coverage of the conference that included 5 keynote and 8 guest presentations.
1 October 2020 ⁞ New structures in the “Diplomacy” section of the website
The Diplomacy section of the ICRP website is divided into three blocks where selected information is available in the new formats: history of diplomacy, organisations and listings.
7 September 2020 ⁞ Cultural relations as a tool of diplomacy in international relations
The second webinar series of the ICRP aims to explore cultural relations as a soft power instrument in foreign policy and to initiate discussions on the role of culture in international relations. The lectures in 2020-2021 focus on various theoretical and practical aspects of cultural relations, including various actors, institutions, approaches, recent trends and future prospects.
3 August 2020 ⁞ Collective Memories for Democratic Values
The ICRP’s first large-scale transnational project was approved for funding. The project aims to promote intercultural dialogue, international relations and human rights; civic engagement, active citizenship and democratic values; enhanced cooperation among NGOs from post-soviet and partner countries.
1 July 2020 ⁞ Launch of “DREAM ROAD” Interreg project
“Danube REgion for improved Access and eMpowerment of ROmA Development” Interreg project was awarded with 2.2 million euro. The main focus of the project is the empowerment of the Roma community in the Danube region through innovative approaches to facilitate digital, information and functional literacy, where strong cooperation of Roma communities, public authorities and policy makers as well as local communities in general is key in achieving success.
29 June 2020 ⁞ Accommodation opportunities for ICRP interns
The ICRP offers affordable accommodation opportunities in Budapest city centre during the internship period exclusively for the participants of the ICRP’s internship programmes.
16 June 2020 ⁞ Establishment of the International Alliance for Cultural Relations
The ICRP was one of the founding member organisations of the global network of organisations active in the field of cultural relations. The aim of the International Alliance for Cultural Relations is to present, research and apply cultural relations as a peaceful instrument of international relations by developing coordinated strategies.
13 May 2020 ⁞ Video lectures
The ICRP started its first online lecture series “Restarting 21st century”. The six webinars throughout May 2020 focused on various topics regarding rapid societal changes due to COVID-19 pandemic. Among the speakers were experts of various fields from different countries and the members of the ICRP’s Advisory Board. At the same time the institution started its video archives, releasing more than 50 video lectures.
1 May 2020 ⁞ Virtual Internship Programme
Besides the regular internship programme and practicum, ICRP launched its virtual internship programme allowing young researchers and student to work remotely with ICRP.
15 April 2020 ⁞ Virtual office in India
According to an agreement with EduKerron International, the ICRP will open its virtual office in India, making it possible to assist young people who are interested in student mobilities and volunteer activities between India and the countries where ICRP’s partners are located.
8 March 2020 ⁞ Fairy tale 4 V-World
The ICRP implemented a 6-day Youth Camp on Human Rights in Tbilisi (Georgia) that allowed participants from Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, the Czech Republic and Georgia to raise their awareness of human rights, as well as develop their mini-ideas to promote European values for their further implementation on a local level.
28 December 2019 ⁞ 1% of personal income tax can be donated to ICRP
The ICRP is entitled to receive 1% donations of Hungarian citizens’ personal income tax each year to support its mission.
27 November 2019 ⁞ New affiliate organisation established in Ukraine
The Organisation of Social Unity and International Relations “KRISTAL” is based in Kiev and aims to raise awareness on the protection of human rights and freedoms and other societal values throughout various formal and non-formal educational activities.
18 – 19 November 2019 ⁞ First global network meeting of the cultural relations research alliance
The Institute for Cultural Relations Policy was invited to join the Research Alliance for International Cultural Relations. The meeting in London brought together leading figures in cultural relations research and practice from across the world.

The ICRP’s annual conference in cooperation with Kodolányi University was organised the fourth time and included presentations of research on security studies, international relations, political science, law, history, economics and cross-border cooperation topics.
25 September 2019 ⁞ Cooperation agreement with the Research Institute of Interregional Studies
The new cooperation in the area of social sciences is aimed to contribute to the development of both organisations throughout staff exchanges, collaboration in publication, organising of joint events and exchange programmes.
6 July 2019 ⁞ Establishment of an affiliate organisation in Turkey
The Turkish Society for Cultural Relations is a part of the international network of the ICRP and based in Bursa.
30 May 2019 ⁞ ICRP as honorary patron of Visegrad School
The educational and training project addressed to students and PhD students of Lublin universities who want to broaden their knowledge in the field of geopolitics, international relations, history, energy security and international law with particular emphasis on countries belonging to the Visegrad Group.
10 – 17 March 2019 ⁞ School education staff mobility programmes
The ICRP started activities in a field of mobility programmes for school education staff, hosting teachers from Turkey within the framework of “Improving professional development of teachers in the process of integration of asylum seekers” and “Snowdrops of the city” projects.
29 January 2019 ⁞ New interview series
As an organisation focusing on international relations with a special emphasis on culture, the Institute for Cultural Relations Policy initiated a series of interviews with top people of leading cultural institutions.to protect human rights and preserving of cultural diversity by supporting cultural scientific relations.
14 December 2018 ⁞ Forum – ‘Eastern Europe Open Boundaries’
The international forum comprised lectures, a workshop and presentations of practical conceptual materials in the specific field of racism and violent behaviours and antidemocratic tendencies among youth. The event was supported by the European Commission’s Programme for education, training, youth and sport.
7 – 13 November 2018 ⁞ Build and attend peace
The EU-funded educational activity was the first multi-action project of ICRP that aimed to strengthen the competences of youth workers and youth educators in peace education for young people in order to empower young people to become pro-active agents of peaceful change via local community initiatives addressing societal conflicts.

The third interdisciplinary meeting with presentations of research on security studies, international relations, political science, law, history, economics and cross-border cooperation topics. The event was co-organised with Kodolanyi University.

The event focused on the economic, cultural and diplomatic relations and cooperation between China and the Central European countries. The conference was organised in cooperation with Corvinus University of Budapest and Central Europe Association.

The Institute for Cultural Relations Policy was awarded of the status of “public benefit organisation” for its long-term involvement in specific activities related to public good in Hungary.
26 January 2018 ⁞ Establishment of an affiliate organisation in Georgia
The Georgian Association for Cultural Relations (ქართული ასოციაცია კულტურული ურთიერთობებისთვის) was founded as a non-commercial legal entity in Rustavi. The organisation aims to protect human rights and preserving of cultural diversity by supporting cultural scientific relations.
15 December 2017 ⁞ 100 interns have completed their internship
Over one hundred interns from four continents and from many countries have completed their 1-6 months internship at the Institute for Cultural Relations Policy in Budapest.

Establishment of the first affiliate association Africa. The Institut des Relations Culturelles et Politiques – IRCP starts its activities in Bamako, Mali.

The first international activity of ICRP funded by the Visegrad Fund. The aim of the training course is to train young professionals who are not only aware of societal issues affecting the V4 region but also interested in exchange of information through journalism or by writing.
25 April 2017 ⁞ The ICRP is accredited as EVS sending organisation
The ICRP has been accredited as an EVS sending organisation which means the institution can send young people from Hungary to participate in EU volunteering projects.
10 January 2017 ⁞ Establishment of the second affiliate abroad
The ICRP extends its activities in Finland by establishing of the Association for Cultural Relations non-governmental organisation in Espoo.

23 June 2016 ⁞ Establishment of first international ICRP foundation abroad
The ICRP extends its activities in Serbia by establishing of the Cultural Relations Foundation (Fondacija za kulturne odnose) non-governmental organisation in Belgrade.
19 April 2016 ⁞ Facilitate learning among cultures
The first EU-funded international activity of ICRP was implemented in Georgia in cooperation with the Academy of Peace and Development. The aim of the training of trainers was to increase youngsters’ understanding of culture and their capacities to lead intercultural activities with educational objectives.

3 June 2015 ⁞ Strategic partnership agreement with Kodolányi János University
The Institute for Cultural Relations Policy and Kodolányi János University of Applied Sciences has signed a long-term strategic partnership agreement. The partnership aims to initiate joint internship, research and educational programme. According to the agreement the two institutions commit themselves to develop joint projects and scientific events in the future. The agreement was signed by the rector of KJU, Dr. h.c. Péter Szabó and the founder of ICRP, András Lőrincz.

The ICRP launched its quarterly journal in order to to provide analysis on key international political, economic and cultural events and approaches. Each issue present scrutinised review of international relations on a quarterly basis written by young researchers, scholars, professionals who are specialised in International Relations theory, Political Science, world politics and Economics.
