I don’t see any borders, do you?

Project description: he project “I don’t see any borders, do you?” was formed due to the refugee crisis that has recently emerged in Europe. People from the Middle East are leaving their homes in the hope of finding a new, better life. The European people have now been put in the centre of this crisis, not knowing how to properly deal with it. There are those who wish to help the refugees, and those who are afraid of them. Some of them are personally transporting refugees to neighboring countries; again others are opening their homes to them. Countries such as Slovakia, Greece, Romania, Hungary and Slovenia have found themselves on the path that the refugees must travel in order to reach their final destination – Germany. The goal of this project is the successful interaction between young people from countries, which are directly influenced by the refugee crisis. We wish to exchange knowledge and learn as much as possible about the situation that has impacted thousands of people. Moreover, we wish to expand our horizon and learn about the reasons and events that have led to the current refugee situation, so we can distinguish the difference between refugees, migrants and emigrants. In this way, we will be able to understand what it feels like to leave your home country with only a backpack in order to find a new and save home in a foreign country. Our goal is to promote solidarity and tolerance.
This youth exchange programme is intended for young people between 18 and 30 years of age from Germany, Slovenia, Hungary, Greece, Romania and Slovakia. Each group will consist of six participants and one group leader. During the exchange programme we will organize several workshops regarding the refugee crisis; our work will be conducted in international teams as well as gender-mixed groups where the participants will be encouraged to use their creativity and innovative ideas. We will organize discussions with representatives of national authorities as well as young people who were forced to leave their homes as children and start a new life in foreign countries. However, since the objective of the exchange programme also includes the formation of long- term friendships, we will organize casual social events so the participants can get to know each other better and learn more about the cuisine and customs of each country.
We hope this project will not only have a long-term impact on the future participants of this exchange programme, but will also resonate in the general public. People, who overcame great difficulties on their journey to Europe, will try to build a new home here. Thus, we must try to live in harmony with each other, no matter what race, religion or gender we belong to. Who we are or where we come from must not define us, as we all inhabit the same planet and have the same, equal rights. This project is only a prelude to a world without borders!
